Requisition # 116123BR Posting Job Description Job Code TWCFAC800 Supervisor, Accounting Exempt Posting Job Title Supervisor, Accounting Posting Job Description The Time Warner Cable office currently seeks an Accounting Supervisor for our Midwest Region Office Accounting Department. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.
Essential Job Functions: Coordinates and manages certain activities related to the recording of revenue, programming, franchise fee agreement compliance and payments, bank account activity, and various general ledger accounts. Also coordinates and supervises the compilation and analysis of information provided for corporate reporting packages and outside agencies. Works closely with internal/external audit teams through the year and ensures that internal controls are implemented correctly. · Supervises accountants and/or accounting administrators. · Provides leadership and accounting technical guidance to accountants. · Assists with problems requiring supervisory review and direction. · Communicates with other departments to facilitate timely completion of closing requirements so that reporting deadlines can be met. · Reviews and standardizes procedures to improve efficiencies. · Ensures that monthly journal entries are completed for balance sheet and income statement accounts and reconciliations are done on a timely basis. · Interprets information required to prepare franchise fees and reviews calculations and other analyses as required by management, audit or government agencies. · Utilizes computer applications to compile, retrieve and summarize accounting information for analyses and reporting purposes. · Prepares or reviews monthly/quarterly/annual reports for inclusion in corporate reporting packages and outside agencies. Analyzes and researches data and variances between periods. · Maintains consistent accounting procedures throughout the Division. Works with various departments and senior levels of management to review compliance or coordinate accounting matters with other departments and locations as necessary. · Audit, compliance monitoring and testing related to Sarbanes Oxley and Internal Controls. · Actively participates in meetings with various management levels within the organization for purposes of reviewing compliance, coordination of accounting matters or financial variance analysis. May include, but is not limited to: · Performing special projects such as research and analysis for internal/external reporting and senior management and corporate requests. · Review and preparation of financial reports including variance analysis · Annual audits, government and tax reporting. · Review and analysis of revenue, accounts receivable, bad debt, liabilities and prepaids. · Review and analysis of variances between periods for copyright filings compiled as per guidelines of the United States Copyright Office.
Job Requirements: · Excellent accounting, analytical, organizational and communication skills. · Effective supervisory skills including ability to select, train, and motivate a group of individuals responsible for performing routine functions requiring analytical, technical and procedural development skills. · Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills. · Ability to operate with minimal direction and handle several projects simultaneously. · Excellent project management skills. · Must be able to work well in changing and high pressure situations. · Proficiency in Excel is required. · Advanced interpersonal skills and the ability to persuade others. · Knowledgeable of, and committed to, a diverse workforce and supports the Division EEO and Affirmative Action goals. · Fax, telephone, copier, computer, mouse and ten key calculator.
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.A or B.S.) in finance and accounting from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education and experience. · Three to five years finance and accounting related experience. · Training in an automated accounting department required. · Previous experience supervising, coaching and developing staff preferred.
