Posting Job Description

The Time Warner Cable Corporate office currently seeks a Staff Accountant for our Region Office Accounting Department. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.

Essential Job Functions:
· Prepares monthly journal entries and reconciliations using computerized spreadsheets for balance sheet and income statement accounts.
· Interprets, compiles and calculates information required to prepare franchise fees and other analyses as required by management, audit or government agencies.
· Utilizes computer applications to compile, retrieve and summarize accounting information for analyses and reporting purposes.
· Prepares monthly/quarterly/annual reports for inclusion in corporate reporting packages and outside agencies. Analyzes and researches data and variances between periods.
· Maintains consistent accounting procedures throughout the Region. Works with various departments to review compliance or coordinate accounting matters with other departments and locations as necessary.
· Performs auditing, compliance monitoring, and testing related to Sarbanes Oxley and Internal Controls.
· Reconciles various general ledger accounts and bank reconciliations to subsidiary ledgers.
· Participates in the monthly closing process, including the recording of cash transactions and standard and adjusting journal entries.
· Researches variances to budgets and prior months during the monthly close process.
· Meets employee, manager and customer needs with professionalism and courtesy, working effectively and tactfully with co-workers to contribute to a positive division image and workplace environment.
· May include, but is not limited to,
Performing special projects such as research and analysis for internal/external reporting and senior management and corporate requests.
Preparation of financial reports including variance analysis
Annual audits, government and tax reporting.
Recording and analysis of revenue, accounts receivable, bad debt, liabilities and prepaid.
Calculation of copyright statements as per the United States Copyright Office.
Calculation of franchise fee payments.
· Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
· Excellent accounting, analytical, organizational and communication skills.
· Proficiency in Excel is required.
· Ability to operate with minimal direction and handle several projects simultaneously
· Must be able to work well in changing and high pressure situations.
· Requires ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
· Requires ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
· Requires ability to solve practical problems and deal with problems with a variety of concrete variables in standardized situations.
· Requires ability to handle confidential information.
· Requires ability to express oneself in a clear, concise and organized manner both verbally and in writing.
· Must demonstrate self-motivation, ability to work independently, ability to prioritize and to maintain well organized work and mental focus.
· Ability to exercise good judgment, keeping in mind company policies and procedures as guidelines.
· Fax, telephone, copier, computer, mouse and ten key calculator.
· Travel 20%

Preferred Qualifications:
· One to two years related experience.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education and experience.
